ART CRITICISM, ESSAYS & FICTION by Cesare A.X. Syjuco
Cesare A.X. Syjuco was the resident art critic for The Times Journal (1985-86), The Manila Times (1986-1989), The Philippine Daily Globe (1990-91) and The Philippine Graphic Magazine.
His landmark articles, critiques, short stories and essays have given rise to a progressive critical movement of younger writers in the Philippines, and have been credited with opening new pathways for interactive cultural discourse.
The articles featured in this section offer a glimpse into the profound genius of his brilliant mind— the very creative force that earned him his legendary titles: “The Golden Boy of Philippine Art,”“The Prince of Narratives,”“The Philippines’ Most Feared Art Critic,” and “The Father of Literary Hybrids.”
